The U.S. News and World Report recently ranked Park University as the second largest Online degree-granting program in the United States.

According the magazine’s E-Learning Guide, 40,000 students enrolled in Online classes at Park University during the 2004-2005 academic year.

Park’s long history of providing education in a variety of formats began in 1972 with the establishment of the first distance learning program—the Military Resident Center System, later renamed the School for Extended Learning in 1989. It served to provide degree completion opportunities primarily to students in the military and to non-traditional students in an accelerated eight-week term format.

In 1996, Park established a distance learning program as an extension of the extended learning program. The classes included a combination of CD-ROM, interactive video and Online formats. The Online format proved to be most successful and, as a result, Park created its School for Online Learning (SOL).

Today, Park University has students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree programs at 42 campuses located in 21 states and Online at www.park.edu. Students can complete their degrees entirely Online, face-to-face, or a combination of both formats.
