Early Friday morning a destructive storm passed through the Kansas City area causing extensive damage to many community locations. I-m grateful to share we have had no personal injuries reported at any of the Park University campuses.
However, because of the storm, the Parkville Campus was closed today (Friday) due to numerous electrical wires downed and which resulted in a loss of electrical power for several hours. The Parkville Campus also lost some beautiful, mature trees which were uprooted and many more trees received severe limb damage. The needed repairs and cleanup are underway and the campus should be back to normal by Saturday.
I am so pleased to share that the new student residence project currently under construction experienced only one broken window and the Independence and Downtown Campus Centers received no damage.
We have heard from faculty and staff who have told us about structural damage received to their personal residences, but at this time we have had no news of personal injuries to anyone in the Park University community.
I want to express my deepest appreciation to the many who have called, sent e-mails and have stopped by the campus to inquire if we are safe and asking what they can do to assist us. Your expressions of support mean a great deal to us all. Thank you.
