Gardner, along with four other winners, was selected for exemplifying the NAIA's Champion of Character core values-respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship- in competition and in her daily life. "This scholarship honor is both a tribute and a reward to the seniors for how they have lived their lives and the character values they possess," said NRCCUA Vice President for National Projects Larry Erenberger. "NRCCUA is proud to support young people with the core values for a Champion of Character." This is the inaugural year for NRCCUA and NAIA to award a $1,000 scholarship to five graduating high school seniors who are attending NAIA institutions in the fall semester. Gardner is a recent graduate of Lee's Summit North North High School in Lee's Summit, Mo. She will be attending Park University at the Parkville Campus in fall 2005 and will be a member of the women's soccer team. Other winners represent Ohio, Kansas, Missouri and Michigan. |
