Launching a Dream
Park University's Professional Development Institute invites students and educators to the "Launching a Dream: First Step to Tomorrow" symposium on Oct. 4-5 at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty, Mo.

Sponsored by Park University and Sprint, "Launching a Dream" symposium reaches out to middle/junior high school, high school, college students and educators, as well as pre-service teachers. It will educate about the future of space exploration and life beyond the stars, and will feature people who have lived the dream of studying and exploring the vistas of space.

Cutting edge scientists and Aerospace Education Specialists from around the country will present, including astronaut Mike Mullane (completed three space missions and logged 356 hours in space aboard the Shuttles Discovery and Atlantis); Dr. Wendell Mendell, Human Exploration Science NASA Johnson Space Center manager; astrobiologist Dr. Lynn Rothschild; Gary Kitmacher, Communications for ISS NASA Johnson Space Center manager; and Michael Kersjes, Space is Special president.

The student sessions are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day, and the cost is $10 for both days and $5 for one day. The educators sessions are all day, and cost $35 for both days and $20 for one day without lunch, or $55 for both days or $39 for one day with lunch.
