Park University to Relocate Downtown Campus to Commerce TowersBy Summer Evans - December 13, 2004 - 3:03 pmEmail this article | Printer friendly page | Media Inquiries The Honorable Kay Barnes, Mayor of Kansas City, Mo., and Park University President, Beverley Byers-Pevitts, Ph.D., held a press conference on December 13 to announce the establishment of Park's Graduate School in downtown Kansas City, Mo. The University announced that it leased 31,000 square feet on the 8th and 9th floors in the Commerce Tower building at 911 Main. The new downtown location will offer Park learners, faculty and administrators an improved location, additional and secure parking, as well as state-of-the-art classrooms. Park will occupy the new location in January 2005. "Park University brings a key educational component to downtown Kansas City. Park's presence at this location complements the City's development plans and greatly enriches our community," said Mayor Barnes "It is an honor to congratulate Park University on its continuous growth and expansion not only in Kansas City, but nationwide." In addition to the newly announced Graduate School, which consists of the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.), Master of Public Affairs (M.P.A.), Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.), the location will house Park's accelerated undergraduate degree programs, the Portfolio program and Park's Professional Development Institute (PDI). "Establishing Park's Graduate School downtown brings numerous benefits to our students," stated Beverley Byers-Pevitts, Park University President, "We strategically selected the 911 Main location for its centralized and convenient placement to provide our students extensive opportunity and access to valuable resources located in the downtown community--we are a natural partner for the Library District." The University will continue to offer undergraduate and graduate classes at all three of its campus locations in Independence, Parkville and Downtown Kansas City. |
